BDL has signed MoU with TATA
INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES (TISS) NCSR Hub on
14-11-2011. TISS has conducted Baseline Survey and
submitted report on 21 March 2012.
Basing on the interventions
projected by TISS through baseline survey, the projects
were selected. As per the projects, NGOs were called for
discussions and MoUs were signed. Out of the five NGOs,
four NGOs are listed with TISS and the last one is a
contractor identified through tendering process. This is
with in DPE guidelines.

BDL has earmarked ₹ 3.50 Crore for execution of Corporate Social Responsibility
activities for the year 2012-13. All these activities
are in execution phase.
Mobile Medicare
Unit:
BDL signed MoU with HelpAge
India(HAI), Hyderabad on 20th Jul 2012 for a period of
three years. As per the MoU, HAI shall run a Mobile
Medicare Unit (MMU) to give treatment to senior citizens
along with distribution of medicines free of cost for
elderly population in the selected Thandas of Narayanpur
and Choutuppal mandals of Nalgonda Dist. for 3 financial
years 2012-13, 2013-14 & 2014-15. BDL will fund the
actual expenses incurred towards running of MMU subject
to a maximum limit of ₹ 65,05,230/-. Mobile Medicare
Unit (MMU) was inaugurated by Dr.N.K.Raju, ED (P&A) on
26.09.2012, at Narayanpur, Nalgonda Dist.
As per the MoU, HelpAge
India is running the MMU successfully and extending
medical facilities to the rural population in the
selected area of operation.
Mid-Day Meal:
BDL
signed MoU with The Akshaya Patra Foundation (TAPF) on
30th July 2012 to sponsor Mid-day meal to 15 schools of
Patancheru Mandal having a total strength of 2453
students. BDL has also agreed to sponsor Kitchen
equipments to TAPF Patancheru Kitchen. The estimated
cost for both Mid-Day Meal and Kitchen equipment is ₹
33,39,750/-. As per the terms of MoU, an amount of ₹ 15,00,000/- was paid to The Akshaya Patra
Foundation (TAPF) for purchase of Kitchen items.
Accordingly, TAPF have purchased and utilizing the same.
Eco-Sanitation:
BDL signed MoU with Action
for Food Production (AFPRO) on 22nd Aug 2012 to improve
access to safe hygienic sanitation practices among
tribal communities for construction of 1000 toilets in
the selected thandas of Narayanpur and Choutuppal
mandals of Nalgonda Dist. BDL will fund the expenses
incurred towards project execution and shall make
available to AFPRO a total amount of ₹ 1,99,93,375/-.
Out of 1000 toilets shall be taken p in 2013-14.On
the occasion of world toilets day on 19 Nov 2012, AFPRO
has started to construct toilets in Narayanpur Mandal.
Drinking Water:
BDL signed MoU with Naandi
Foundation, Hyderabad on 29th Sep 2012 for a period of
three years. As per the MoU, Naandi shall provide three
safe drinking water community centers in Narayanpur,
Peepal Pahad and Jangaon of Nalgonda District. BDL shall
provide financial support for procuring, installing,
operating and maintenance for three years. BDL will fund
the estimated expenditure of ₹ 63,84,342/- for first
year including maintenance and ₹
9,03,102/- for maintenance for each year for next two
years.
Road:
Laying of 800 meter road at
Idudonala Thanda, a tribal village in Naranyanpur Mandal
of Nalgonda District is being taken up by BDL by
incurring an amount of ₹ 40 Lakh approximately.
Three Vocational Training
Programs were conducted on Education, Health Related
activities and on Vendor Development.
BDL in association with MSME-
DI (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises - Development
Institute), a Govt of India organization conducted two
Vocational Training programs viz., one on Education on
“Computer Hardware” and the second on Vendor
development on “Solar Power Technologies”. These two
Vocational Training Programs were conducted from 8 Dec
to 30 Dec 2011 for 33 candidates on Vendor Development
and 29 candidates on Education. Certificates were
distributed to the successful participants by ED (P&A)
in valedictory function held on 30 Dec at MSME.
BDL in association with St
John Ambulance Association, an international
organisation conducted Vocational Training Programme on
Health related activities on “First Aid”. The Vocational
Training programme was conducted from 19 Dec to 21 Dec
2011 for 35 candidates. Certificates were distributed to
the successful participants in the valedictory function
held on 21 Dec 2011 at St John Ambulance Association.
BDL has incurred an
expenditure of around Rs. 2.5 lakhs.
Mid Day Meal:
BDL has sponsored mid day meal
for 428 students of ZPHS Schools at Bhanur and Ghanapur
Villages Patancheru Mandal of Medak District through M/s
Akshayapatra Foundation, NGO of International repute. In
addition, the Company donated a food distribution vehicle to
M/s Akshayapatra Foundation for transportation of cooked
food from the main kitchen situated at Patancheru, for
distribution of mid day meal to the students. BDL handed
over a Cheque of Rs.10,00,286/- to M/s Akshayapatra for mid
day meal and food distribution vehicle.

was flagged off by the Chairman & Managing Director, Maj Gen
Ravi Khetarpal, VSM ( Retd) on 31 May 2011.
Since 1999,
BDL has taken up developmental activities in three
remote and undeveloped villages.
Komatikunta Thanda:
This is a remote Thanda inhabited by Lambadas (STs)
in Alldurg Mandal of Medak District. The Company has
constructed 16 dwelling pucca houses on the lines of
government scheme. Drinking water facility is provided
by installing a bore well.. Regular Free Medical
Checkup camps are conducted to take health care of the
residents. Children are encouraged for primary
education by providing books and study materials besides
putting some students in the residential hostels. The
Company has provided fencing to the school premises and
provided 10 benches for school children. The
Management has spent around 4.5 lakhs on the
developmental activities in this Thanda.
Akanapally Village:
This is a village inhabited by SCs, STs and OBCs
in Maheswaram Mandal of RR District. The Company has
provided the Water Management System by laying water
pipe lines and storage tanks for supply of safe drinking
water around the village besides providing submersible
water pump set to the bore well. The Primary School was
provided with furniture and teaching aids. The Company
distributed note books and stationery to the School
children and Anganwadi children for five years. BDL has
provided School Uniform to the students. BDL has
incurred an expenditure of around Rs. 3.5 lakhs.
Bhanur Village:
The second unit of the company is situated in
this village. The Company has constructed Primary
School Building besides repairing the High School
Building for better accommodation of the students.
Furniture and Teaching aids were provided to the
School. BDL has laid black top roads in the village and
constructed a Water sump for storing of safe drinking
water to the village,. Till date, the Company has
incurred an expenditure of Rs. 12 lakhs on account of
developmental activities.
